What is Aquaporin?

Aquaporin is a cell membrane protein or the “cell waterway” which transports water between cells. It is a relatively new discovery, only being identified in 1998, and the discovery won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2003. Aquaporin can only absorb water molecules one by one.
